NCAA names Adams coordinator of officials
John W. Adams will succeed Hank Nichols as NCAA coordinator of men’s basketball officiating at the end of the 2007-08 season. Adams has been coordinator of officials for the Horizon League since 1999, following similar posts with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and Great Lakes Valley Conference. He was an NCAA and Indiana high school official for 15 years.

NIT announces new format for Season Tip-Off
Each team in the NIT Season Tip-Off will play four games next year under a new format that includes third- and fourth-round games at campus sites. The change, announced Monday, will be the third in as many years to the format of the 16-team preseason tournament. In 2006, first- and second-round games were played at neutral sites for the first time since the inaugural tournament in 1985. The NIT moved the first two rounds to participating campus sites for this year’s tournament.
BYU extends Ross through 2010-11
Brigham Young basketball coach Dave Rose has agreed to a contract extension that runs through the 2010-11 season. The Cougars won the Mountain West Conference regular-season title last season and have won at least 20 games in each of the two seasons since Rose was promoted. “Dave and his staff are establishing a strong foundation for BYU basketball now and into the future,” BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe said in a statement Monday. Terms of the deal were not released.
