Exercise rider injured at Saratoga (AP)
An exercise rider for trainer Steve Asmussen was placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a head injury in a riding accident at Saratoga Race Course. Parker Buckley, 40, was in critical condition at Albany Medical Center after the training accident Monday. Asmussen told the Daily Racing Form that Buckley, a former jockey, has worked for him for the past 16 months.

Delta Storm wins Del Mar feature
Delta Storm, the betting favorite, beat My City by the Bay to win the $61,000 feature race on the turf at Del Mar on Monday. Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Delta Storm finished a half-length in front after running almost stride for stride with My City by the Bay for most of the 5-furlong sprint. Easy On The Eye finished third in the race for 3-year-olds and up, a length back of My City by the Bay. Delta Storm was clocked in :55.39 and paid $3.60, $2.20 and $2.

Derby winning filly Genuine Risk dies
Genuine Risk, who in 1980 became one of only three fillies to win the Kentucky Derby, died Monday at the age of 31.
