Highland Torree wins Hollywood Park (AP)
Highland Torree charged down the center of the Cushion Track to beat Brendolyn by 3 1/2 lengths to win the $55,944 Optional Claiming feature at Hollywood Park on Friday night. Ridden by Martin Garcia, Highland Torree covered 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:08 3-5 and returned $10.80, $5 and $2.60. Brendolyn paid $5.20 and $2.20.
Holiday Credit runs at Yonkers Trot (AP)
Holiday Credit normally performs well on a half-mile track. Driver Ron Pierce, along with trainer Jimmy Takter, hopes the colt holds form in the $605,854 Yonkers Trot at Yonkers Raceway Saturday night. Eight horses are entered in the opening leg of the Triple Crown for 3-year-olds. Holiday Credit had won six of his previous seven starts on half-mile tracks.
