Hunting wins Belmont feature (AP)
Hunting beat Angliana by 4 3/4 lengths Friday in the $61,200 feature at sloppy Belmont Park. Only three horses contested the 1 1-16 miles race run in 1:44.03. John Velazquez was aboard for trainer Shug McGaughey as the 5-year-old earned his fifth win in 14 starts. Hunting paid $4.40 to win. There was no place or show betting.
Casino Transaction wins Monmouth opening day feature (AP)
Herb McCauley guided Casino Transaction to a front-running three-quarter length victory Friday in the $70,000 Red Cross Stakes fort fillies and mares on opening day at Monmouth Park. Trained by Greg Sacco, Casino Transaction ran 6 furlongs over a sloppy track in 1:09. The 4-year-old daughter of Carson City paid $13.80, $6.80 and $4.20.
