Big Brown has best workout before Haskell start
Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Big Brown turned in his fastest workout Saturday since returning to training after his puzzling last-place finish in the Belmont Stakes. The colt breezed six furlongs in 1:10.86 under exercise rider Michelle Nevin at Aqueduct. “Every work since he’s come back has been better than the one before it,” said Michael Sherack, vice president of IEAH Stables, which co-owns Big Brown with Paul Pompa Jr.
‘Marmalade Answers King George Challenge
Duke of Marmalade proved his mettle over 12 furlongs in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Ascot July 26, battling back in the final 200 yards to defeat the upstart Papal Bull and claim his fourth consecutive group I win for trainer Aidan O’Brien.
