Dale Baird, winningest thoroughbred trainer, dies in I-70 crash (AP)
Dale Baird, the winningest thoroughbred trainer with more than 9,400 victories, died in a crash along an icy highway when he lost control of his pickup truck while hauling a livestock trailer. He was 72. He was killed Sunday in the accident on Interstate 70 along with two teenagers whose car broadsided the truck about 20 miles east of Indianapolis.
Beau Dare wins Aqueduct feature race for fillies and mares (AP)
Beau Dare beat You Asked by 3 lengths Wednesday in the $59,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares at Aqueduct. With Chuckie Lopez aboard, Beau Dare set the pace in the 6-furlong race. Eventual third-place finisher Circuit Breaker mounted the only serious challenge at the top of the stretch. Beau Dare was timed in 1:11.15 on the fast track, improving her career mark to 4-for-20.
