Sweeter Still wins Sandy Blue (AP)
Sweeter Still beat Dawn Before Dawn by a length Friday in the $85,880 Sandy Blue Handicap for 3-year-old fillies at Del Mar. Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Sweeter Still ran a mile on the turf course in 1:34.250 and paid $4.20, $2.60 and $2.40. Dawn Before Dawn returned $4.60 and $3.20, and Gorgeous Goose paid $3.40 to show.
Music Note still not committed for Alabama Stakes (AP)
Trainer Larry Jones awaits a decision that will be made in Dubai but is crucial to the prospects of the filly he’ll send to the post at Saratoga Race Course for the $600,000 Alabama Stakes on Saturday. Jones trains Proud Spell, winner of the Kentucky Oaks and Delaware Oaks this year, and he’s waiting for word on whether she’ll face Music Note in the field of 3-year-old fillies.
