Brewers’ wild ride ends with whimper (AP)
For a season 26 years in the making, the wild ride for the wild-card Milwaukee Brewers ended with a whimper. The Brewers got away from their previously patient approach at the plate and an offense that sputtered throughout September ground to a halt Sunday in a 6-2 loss to Philadelphia, ending their playoff series in four games.

Phillies advance to first NLCS since ‘93 (AP)

Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Ray Durham can't come up with a ball hit by Philadelphia Phillies' Pedro Feliz during ninth-inning baseball action in Game 4 of the National League division series Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, in Milwaukee. The Phillies won the game 6-2 to advance to the National League championship series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Philadelphia Phillies found plenty of power to go with their pitching, right in time for the NL championship series. Jimmy Rollins led off the game with a home run, Pat Burrell connected twice and Jayson Werth added a solo shot Sunday to lead the Phillies to a 6-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers that clinched their first trip to the NLCS since 1993.
