The Texans may be on the verge of replacing DeMarcus Faggins with rookie Fred Bennett at right cornerback. Bennett has good size and has been excellent in practice, while Faggins was the victim on several long pass plays through the first four games. The general belief is that Faggins could be an elite nickel corner for Houston.

The Eagles announced Tuesday that starting left guard Todd Herremans had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday. The surgery was performed by Dr. Peter DeLuca, and was successful. Herremans, a fourth-round draft pick out of Saginaw Valley State in 2005, has started 22 consecutive games at left guard. A timetable for his return to action will be determined next week. Third-year reserve guard Scott Young is listed as Herremans’ backup on the depth chart if he is not able to return in time for the Eagles next game against the New York Jets. Also in the mix could be second-year guard Max Jean-Gilles and Nick Cole.

The Bucs reportedly rejected the Vikings request of a first-day draft choice in exchange for backup running back Mewelde Moore. Moore is in a contract year and has been a gameday inactive recently, so it’s surprising they want to keep him so badly. Tampa has offered a sixth-round pick, so it’s quite possible a deal will still happen. Moore would add depth in Tampa, but probably wouldn’t be a huge fantasy factor.

If the Bears are hoping Benson will tire out opposing defenses, they’re going to have to make him stop dancing around behind the line.
