Vikings Trainer Makes Second Visit to Mississippi to See Favre

The Vikings must be serious about making sure that Brett Favre is close to if not 100 percent before they wrap up a deal for him. The Star Tribune reports that Vikings trainer Eric Sugarman was in Mississippi Wednesday to talk to Favre about his condition:
Vikings trainer Eric Sugarman was in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Wednesday to check on the physical condition of quarterback Brett Favre, another indication the veteran NFL quarterback is headed for the Vikings.
This is Sugarman’s second visit to Favre in Mississippi. The last time he was there in mid-June, Sugarman gave the former Packers star some exercises he could use following arm surgery. A Vikings source who has been in contact with Favre recently reported that the surgery seven weeks ago was a complete success.
With training camp opening 10 weeks after the surgery, Favre’s arm should be back to full strength.
Now the only real question left is when will the official announcement of Favre being a Viking be made?

Forget the Cowboys Offense; What About the Defense?
It seems like every time you turn on the TV there is somebody putting their two cents in on the key to the Cowboys success. The answers all seem to be the same; “Tony Romo has to play better, and Roy Williams has to step up and be a big time threat.” Ok, so maybe those […]

Ok, so maybe those two statements may be partially true, and maybe not. But here is a thought, what if the “D” in “Big D” plays better? That could help couldn’t it? Don’t let that 8th ranked defense bologna fool you, that is in terms of yards allowed, and as I’ve touched on before, the Cowboys special teams was less than spectacular last year, meaning opposing teams often had amazing field position to start their drives.
The harsh reality is that the Cowboys gave up 22.8 points per game last year. That was good enough to rank them 20th in the NFL.
The next big thing defensively is turnovers. The Cowboys were -11 in turnovers last year. That is dreadful. Now once again here come the Romo critics to point out that he threw 14 interceptions in 2008. True.
But the Dallas secondary only picked off 6 passes. In comparison, that means that Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, Michael Griffin, Charles Woodson, and Nick Collins all picked off more passes on their own than the entire Cowboys secondary did last season. And that my friends cannot happen.
So, What is the key to the Cowboys success in 2009 you ask, allow fewer points, and create more turnovers. As the old saying goes, “Offense puts fans in the stands, but Defense wins championships.”
The Proof Doesn’t Lie - Favre on the Way to Minnesota
Need more proof on whether Brett Favre is about to become the Vikings new quarterback for 2009 ? Well, here are four tidbits to nibble on for those of you who haven’t quite reached the saturation level yet. 1. Need more proof on whether Brett Favre is about to become the Vikings new quarterback for 2009 ? Well, here are four tidbits to nibble on for those of you who haven’t quite reached the saturation level yet.
1. Favre and wife Deanna allegedly made a $30,000 deposit on a condominium near 50th and France in Edina last weekend.
2. According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the word is 40 percent of the Vikings’ playbook is being customized for quarterback Brett Favre. This story, if true, means that the Mississippi man of mystery has probably already agreed in principal or otherwise to a contract with the team.
3. Sid Hartman of the Star Tribune wrote a recent article that Vikings trainer Eric Sugarman was in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Wednesday to check on the physical condition of quarterback Brett Favre.
There seems little doubt Favre will be in uniform when Vikings training camp opens in Mankato on July 31.
4. Single-game tickets go on sale July 20, and it’s a pretty good bet that the Vikings will try to make “THE” announcement coincide. Sort of an “ Economic Stimulus Package” of their own. It simply makes sense from a marketing standpoint.
Any guesses on the date of the first official announcement ?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee state officials say they had been preparing a youth suicide prevention public service announcement featuring former NFL quarterback Steve McNair before he was shot and killed last week.
