Del Porto rejoins Argentine team (AP)
Juan Martin del Potro began practicing for the Davis Cup final with his Argentine teammates Monday after returning from the Masters Cup. The 20-year-old Del Potro was eliminated from the seaon-ending tournament in China on Thursday and missed the first few days of training for the Nov. 21-23 final against Spain in Mar del Plata.
Federer’s priority: ‘Wimbledon title above all else’
Swiss star Roger Federer says winning Wimbledon is more important to him than regaining his No 1 ranking. “Wimbledon is something special. There is no substitute for it,” Federer told reporters Monday, on the eve of an exhibition match in Kuala Lumpur, billed as the “Showdown of Champions.” Others playing Tuesday night are James Blake, ranked tenth, and two former Wimbledon champions, John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg. The quartet will play two singles matches and one doubles.
Venus Williams wins WTA Championships
At least for Venus Williams. The Wimbledon champ closed out the WTA season with a win over Vera Zvonareva.
