Dementieva finally wins Kremlin Cup
Elena Dementieva had lost twice in the final of her hometown tourney, which made Sunday’s Kremlin Cup win sweet.

Bondarenko advances at Generali Ladies
Alona Bondarenko beat Martina Muller of Germany 6-3, 6-0 Monday in the first round of the Generali Ladies, where the Ukrainian broke her opponent three times in the first set and dropped only four points on serve in the second. She will next play either seventh-seeded Tatiana Golovin, who reached the final of the Zurich Open on Sunday, or Eleni Daniilidou. Yvonne Meusburger also advanced, rallying to beat Melanie Klaffner 6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-3.

Murray meets with ATP over gambling
Andy Murray met with ATP officials Wednesday to discuss comments he made about gambling in tennis. “I didn’t tell them anything new,” said Murray, who has reached the second round at the Madrid Masters. “They weren’t really gathering information, they were just finding out exactly what happened, so I told them.” Last week, the 17th-ranked Murray claimed that corruption in tennis was common knowledge. He has twice backtracked on those comments, saying his words were taken out of context.

Roddick is 5th to qualify for Masters Cup
Andy Roddick became the fifth player to qualify for the season-ending Masters Cup despite withdrawing from this week’s Madrid Masters because of a knee injury. The eight-player Masters Cup takes place in Shanghai, China, from Nov. 11-18. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Nikolay Davydenko have qualified. Roddick is ranked No. 5. The exit of several seeded players in Madrid allowed the American to qualify for the Masters Cup for the fourth time.
