Maria Sharapova could be the last Australian Open women’s champion crowned in daylight hours. Melbourne’s The Age newspaper reported Sunday that the women’s final is likely to be shifted from its Saturday afternoon slot to Saturday night in a move driven by the demands of television broadcasters. Sharapova beat Ana Ivanovic in straight sets on Saturday in a match beginning at 1:30 p.m.

French Open champion Chang elected to tennis Hall
French Open winner Michael Chang was elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and IMG creator Mark McCormack and Tennis Week magazine founder Eugene Scott were selected posthumously. McCormack and Scott were selected in the contributor category, the hall announced Wednesday. The induction ceremony is July 12 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum. Chang was only 17 when he won the 1989 French Open - the youngest male player to win a Grand Slam title. He was the first U.S.
