Roddick and Jankovic win titles in China
Andy Roddick claimed his third ATP title of the season, beating unseeded Dudi Sela of Israel 6-4, 6-7 (6) 6-3 on Sunday in the final of the China Open. No. 2 Roddick struggled all the way against Sela, who reached the final by beating top-seeded David Ferrer, fellow Spaniard Tommy Robredo and Rainer Schuettler of Germany. It was the first ATP final of Sela’s career. Sela is only No. 92 in the ATP rankings and is the first Israeli to reach an ATP final since Harel Levy in 2000.

Sharapova to ’shut it down’ for season
Maria Sharapova announced on her Web site Friday that she will not play again this season, ending speculation that she might come back for the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Championships Nov. 4-9 in Doha, Qatar.

Argentina’s leading player David Nalbandian wants the Davis Cup final against Spain in his central hometown of Cordoba. Meanwhile, the Argentine Tennis Association received an extended deadline to Wednesday to choose a venue for its first home final from Nov. 21-23.

Moya wins debut, Ancic upset in Open de Moselle
Former world No. 1 Carlos Moya beat Spanish compatriot Albert Montanes 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 on his debut at the Open de Moselle on Monday. Moya, coming off his second final of the year at Bucharest this month, improved his record against Montanes to 2-1 in the first-round indoor match. The only seed in action, No. 8 Mario Ancic of Croatia, was upset by French Open quarterfinalist Ernests Gulbis of Latvia 7-6 (3), 6-4.
