Andy Roddick will lead the United States against defending champion Russia in the Davis Cup final. The sixth-ranked Roddick, who has never won a Davis Cup title, was selected along with No. 13 James Blake and the top-ranked doubles pair of Bob and Mike Bryan. The best-of-five series will be played Nov.
Henin beats Sharapova in Madrid final (AP)
Justin Henin finished her record-breaking season undefeated after Wimbledon. She won the Sony Ericsson Championships on Sunday, rallying past Maria Sharapova 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 in the longest three-set final in tournament history. The top-ranked Belgian won her 10th title in 2007 and earned $1 million at the season-ending event, becoming the first woman to pass $5 million for a year.
Bad Masters Cup doesn’t bother Djokovic (AP)
Novak Djokovic lost all three of his matches at the Masters Cup. He never lost his sense of humor. Along with the skills worthy of a No. 3 ranking, the 20-year-old Serbian gained a reputation for his quick quips and impersonations of top players such as Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova.
