U.S. to host France in Davis Cup quarters in N.C.
The United States will host France on indoor hard courts in Winston-Salem, N.C., in the Davis Cup quarterfinals. The defending champions will play the French team April 11-13 at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the International Tennis Federation said Monday. The last time the teams played, France beat the U.S. on clay at Roland Garros in the 2002 semifinals.

Top-seeded Roddick advances in Memphis (AP)
Top-seeded Andy Roddick successfully opened his bid for a second straight tournament victory, beating qualifier Gilles Muller 6-4, 7-6 (4) on Wednesday night in the first round of the RMK Championships. Roddick, coming off a victory Sunday in San Jose, Calif., overcame the hard-serving Muller’s 18 aces.
Chela, Moya out, Nalbandian wins in Mexico
Defending champion Juan Ignacio Chela and two-time winner Carlos Moya were eliminated in the second round of the Abierto Mexicano on Wednesday. Fifth-seeded Chela, who beat Moya in last year’s final, lost to 2003 champ Agustin Calleri 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-1. No. 2-seeded Moya, champion in 2002 and ‘04, fell 6-4, 6-2 to Nicolas Massu of Chile. Also ousted were No. 3 Juan Monaco and No. 4 Guillermo Canas of Argentina.
